Manchester United have added another player to the youth ranks, despite the myth that Jose Mourinho doesn’t invest in the younger players during his tenure as manager. Nishan Burkart, a 16-year-old Swiss youth international has made the move to Old Trafford.
The deal was confirmed by United yesterday, when Burkart made his debut from off of the bench in an U18 fixture which the club went on to lose 2-1 to fierce rivals Liverpool.
Shortly after the game, the first photo emerged of Burkart wearing Manchester United colours. The youngster is highly thought of back in his homeland of Switzerland, and Nicky Butt is clearly doing his best to put Manchester United’s academy back on the map.
It’s always tough to tell just how good a youngster is whilst they are still teenagers, but as they grow and develop you get a better idea about their potentials and whether they’ll be good enough to play in the first-team.
