Southampton’s young striker Gallagher will be given the chance to impress during a season-long loan spell with Blackburn.
Gallagher is currently sat behind Shane Long, Charlie Austin and Jay Rodriguez in the pecking order for a place up front for the Saints and Claude Puel has apparently agreed to sanction a loan deal to the Championship club.
Owen Coyle has made it no secret that he plans to bolster Blackburn’s attack this summer and he has already signed strike duo Anthony Stokes and Danny Graham.
20-year-old Gallagher played 15 games on loan at Milton Keynes last season but failed to score a goal before being recalled by Southampton in January.
The former Scotland under-18 international changed his allegiance to England for the under-19 squad and has scored 2 senior domestic goals in his career. Both of these strikes have come for Southampton; against Yeovil in the FA Cup and against Norwich in the league.
